     The canonical texts of Islam have been translated to English and uploadedto the internet archive in pdf format.   The Noble Qur'an translated by Hilali/Khan  is here:

If you do not read it, you will be an Islamophobe, not an IslamoRealist.  To delve deeper into the Qur'an, two resources are essential:

https://quranx.com/1.1 is an Islamic site with multiple resources including  Qur'an, hadith and tafsirs.The search  tab lets you search all the resources at once or a select collection of resources. The translation of Sahih Bukhari is expurgated, Tafsir Ibn Kathir is not. 

    Sahih Bukhai is considered to be the most authentic and authoritative collection of Muhamad's extra-Quranic sayings and doings. It is divided into nine volumes, volume 4 contains two must read books: "The Book Of Jihad"  and "The Book Of Khumus". Those two books tell us what Islam is all about. The "Book Of Expedition"  in volume 5 should be read along with them. Page 108 of vol. 4 reveals how Muhammad mde his liveing: "war booty"  After reading it,, go to quranx.com and search for "what is said regarding spears", you will not find it because that database is derived from the expurgated English only edition.  Search for it at sunnah.com and you will find only the Arabic with no translation. Now go to quranx.com and search for "The Benefits Of Iron",  you will find the quote in Tafsir Ibn kathir.  Muslims do not want us to know how Muhammad made his living.  By God, I will tell you of resources others will not reveal. Zad Al-Ma'ad includes a discussion of the worst and best occupations for Muslims.    When you have read that essay, pause to reflect on it. What is Islam all about? 

     This book is a terrorist recruiting manual. Its table of contents contains a precis of each chapter.      Islamic law is revelatory." Reliance Of The Traveller"  is the most well known code.  Its explanation of jihad is a must read!!! Book 9, Chapter o begins the definition of Jihad, o9.8 informs us that the caliph makes war on Jews, Christians and Majians. Read it now!!!

     Hedaya is the code used by the Ottoman Empire. Volume 2 has the goods on Jihad, beginning on page 139.  If nothing else, read pages 144-145 and 212.

   Volume 1, book 1 reveals how Muhammad received his inspiration~revelations.  It is obvious that he had epilepsy and needed a service camel to prevent injury in falls. 

     Siras tell us about the life of Muhammad. The most famous is "The Life Of Muhammad", download it from thereligionofpeace.com becuse that one has a text pane so it can be searched and you can pull quotes from it.  Waquidi's sirah has some details not easily found elsewhee.

Is Jihad Peaceful Or Is It War?

     Two ignorant fools who comment at  World Israel News claim that Jihad is non-violent introspection referred to as Jihad an-Nafs or that it is entirely defensive.  Surah At Taubah 9: 8, 29, 111, 120 & 123 do not mention defense.  Sirah Al-Hajj 22:39 . gives permission to fight when attacked and when driven out.  Surah Al-Baqarah 2:191 repeats the call to fight those who drove you out but  the footnote in the Hilali/Khan translation  makes matters fully clear.  Surah Al-Imran 3:140 teaches that fighting is to test believers and take martyrs.

What is jihad? Is it holy fighting in  Allah's cause as the footnote to 2:190 defines it?  Or is it War against non-Muslims as defined in  Islamic law?  Corpus Quran  hows us the Arabic word and its meaning in 9:29  ,  https://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=9&verse=29#(9:29:1)

    Jihad an -Nafs, supposedly the greater jihad, means wrestling with your ego and inner demons. How would you be injured or killed doing that and why would the disabled and elderly be exempted from it? Does it accrue spoils and slaves? Does it involve killing or being killed as in 9:111?

    Please give a careful reading to a selection of relevant Qur'an verses. For comparison I inserted the table of ontents of Bukhari's Book Of Jihad.  This composite begins with yher ninth and ends with the third surah. 3:151 and its context removes all doubt about the nature of jihad

 

Corpus Quran  https://corpus.quran.com/  is affiliated with a British university, it breaks down the Qur'an word by word with a dictionary and concordance. Read 9:29 above, thern read this. 

    Hilali, one of the Quran translators also translated Sahih Bukhari and included many Qur'an quotes in it. Read them and obtain clues. 

Challenge: go to sunnah.com and try to find 2914 in Bukhari. You will only find the Arabic, there is no translation. Why?  Go to quranx.com and search for "shade of my spear"  You will only find it in Ibn Kathir's Tafsir, you will not find it in the hadith collections because they have been expurgated. Muslims do not want us to know that Muhammad made his living by force of arms.

    It is argued that Jihad is morally superior because Islamic law prohibits killing noncombatants. But why does it prohibit killing women and children?  Why does it prohibit embezzlement of the spoils?  Could the two be related?  Read the relevant hadith collected by Imam Muslim.  Read the TOC slowly and meditate on each topic.




    In case  you can not figure it out, Ibn Taymiyya has an explicit answer for you: enemy women and children are "property for Muslims".  Religious And Moral Doctrine Of Jihad???! "Tthe only code of the Hanbali school of Islamic Law that I have been able to find.



    What is the meaning of Jihad in the Shafii school of Islamic law?  What is the minimum requirement for it?  What does the caliph do and why?  What happens to captive women and children?



    Reliance is not the only codification of shari'ah. Hedaya is the code of the Hanafi school used in India and the Ottoman Empire. War must be carried on at all times. Jizya is a payment in lieu of destruction. Destruction is the default. Did you know that jihad is a murderous and destructive institution?  What clues did you have?

    Qur'an, hadith & Shari'ah: TRIFECTA!!  But there is something more nobody else will tell you about. Muhammad was illiterate but he had paid and volunteer scribes who wrote letters to rulers in Arabia and companions who  delivered them.  The largest trove of those letters is in Waquidi's sira, beginning on page 308 of "Ibn Sa'd" The letter to the rulers of Aylah, a Christian port city in what is now Jordan, reveals Muhammad's deands and what he intends to do if they are not met. Read it carefully and meditate on this letter!!

What did he demand? What did he plan to do their adults and children if they rejected his demands? "




    Islam's canonical books show that jihad is war, "holy fighting in Allah's cause" involving killing and being killed, acruing spoils if successful and admission to Paradise killed. It is murderous and destructive and it is how Muhammad got his income. 9:29 was revealed  with jizya as a replacement for revenue lost by prohibition of pagan hajj.
