Jihad: Who, What And Why From Original Sources

Reading translations of authentic Islamic texts is the best way to learn about Islam.  In this educational essay I present the uls  of the texts I mention.   You can select them, right click and select search or copy them and paste them into your browser. The books are in archive.org, the internet archive.

Is Jihad fard kifaya or fard ayn?  Does it obligate the community or the individual?  I direct your attention to the terrorist recruiting manual "The Book Of Jihad.   I have opened it to you, to page 17, which includes the infamous fatwa of Imam Al-shafi'i.  Read it for your first clue.  Then turn the page to the table of contents and read it for a cost/benefit analysis of jihad.

Sheikh Azzam  addresses the issue in a different way, I want you to read page 14  of "Defense Of Muslim Lands" . Note the purpose of the annual attacks.

Now it is time to turn to shari'ah; what does Islamic law say about it?  What is the obligation of jihad?  To whom does it apply>  What does the caliph do and why?  I open Reliance Of The Traveller  for your edification. Read, learn and obtain vital clues.

That is the fiqh of the Shafi'i school, the most popular  but there are others,.  I now open for your edification,  volume 2 of Hedaya, the fiqh of the Hanafi school.  Ir reveals crucial facts about jihad and jizya.  Unfortunately, the book was drenched, there is some smudging and bleed through but the information it holds is vital.

Yes, I know it is not easy reading, but do it! Page s 140-145 are absolutely vital! Pages 212...218  reveal crucial details about jizya and the real objective of jihad.

Hilali & Khan used Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation and three tafsirs in writing their Noble Qur'an.  I want you to read Surah Al-Baqarah 2:190 ...  and the translator's footnote at the bottom of the page,.  The streaming text  app. has a search feature  accessed by the large bold Q in the left sidebar. Search results are displayed in the left sidebar  and marked with blue chunks under the page indicator.  I want you to search independently for these words: fight, terror and Jew.

There are things that Muslims do not want you to know about.  The English Only Edition of Sahih Bukhari  was expurgated, it is the basis of all online hadith databases  including the one at quranx.com  and the one at sunnah.com  where you will find only the Arabic script with no translation.   What is it they do not want us to know?  I have opened the book for you to the page where you can read "What is said regarding spears.  Muhammad said that his livelihood was placed under the shade of his spear.   When you read the saying and the footnote at the bottom of page 108 you will recognize that the words came from an arrogant and evil man.

Now turn back to the beginning of the Book Of Jihad in this volume and read it all.  Continue by reading the Book Of Khumus which alludes to Surah Al-Anfal 8:41

To verify my truthfulness, go to quranx.com, click the search tab and enter  "My livelihood is under the shade of my spear" You will only find it in Ibn Kathir's tafsir 'The Benefits Of Iron" You will not find it in Sahih Bukhari.  Go ahead, try it at sunnah.com too.
